Measure Water Needs Before You Automate
Good automation starts with understanding flow rate, zones, growing media, and crop needs.

Automation is not the first step. An effective system starts with baseline data that explains how water is available, how it moves, and what the crop needs.
Start from actual conditions
Map out the water source, pump capacity, elevation changes, line lengths, and block layout. This information helps determine whether each zone receives adequate flow.
Define your unit of decision
Schedules should be built around zones and crop needs, not duration alone. Actual flow rate and media characteristics give context to every decision.
Then choose your level of automation
Once the water flow is understood, choose between local control, semi-automatic, or connected. Technology should follow operational needs, not the other way around.
